Another Instant Classic

In what turned out to be another instant classic in the SAC, also proved to be a tough one point loss for the boys varsity basketball team last night in their single elimination playoff loss to HBA, 68-67.

The gym was packed, the scene was all set, win and move on for a shot at a second straight state berth entry. Both teams came out of the box with a fervor and intensity that did not disappoint the fans. HBA used their sharp shooting three point arsenal, while our Royals took it to the basketball with timely drives and assists.

Down by 6 points in the final two minutes, our young man mounted their comeback to tie the game at 67 all and after another stop had the ball with 30 seconds left in the game. With a chance to take the lead

Allowing the clock to wind down, a lane to the bucket opened and with a dribble drive to the right hand side of the lane, we released a good shot to the rim that slightly missed the mark and careened off to the side which HBA secured. After a foul, HBA was at the line for two shots, making the first and after a timeout to set the strategy, HBA missed the second shot and we secured the rebound with a chance to make the final shot and secure a win

And with only 4 seconds left in the game, we quickly bring up the ball and take a shot from the left wing that falls just short, secure the rebound and we quickly put up another try, that rims out and actually have one more try when the buzzer sounds and ball slides by the rim to give the win to HBA.

PJ Minaya led all scorers with 32 points

Congratulations to the boys varsity team on a wonderful season. This team posted a season with one of the highest wins total in the history of the school.
