Girls Senior Night/Homecoming Combo

Girls Senior Night and Homecoming combo was played in front of a full house last night as the girls hosted Punahou and boys challenged Hawaii Baptist. The six seniors girls honored at halftime and after the game were Jessica Zahar, Jade Gonzalez, Jackie Earl, Chelsea Kido, Mariah Schoniwitz, and Sam Hyde.

The girls gave Punahou all they could handle all the way to the final buzzer. Trailing for most of the game and with their floor leader, Sam Hyde, returning from an ankle injury, the Lady Royals mounted a 4th quarter charge with 3’s by Jessica Clanton and Mariah Schonowitz to pull within 6 points in the final two minutes. Back and forth went both teams, with tremendous hustle and put back by Mariah had our girls with 4 points under a minute to go. Our Lady Royals put Punahou on the line and they converted down the stretch as the visiting Punahou squeaked out a 4 point 47-43 victory.

In the second game of Homecoming, our boys took on the high scoring 3 point sharp shooters Eagles of Hawaii Baptist Academy. In one of the highest scoring half of the season, the Royals took a ten point 48-38 lead. HBA caught fire in the 3rd quarter to take a one point lead heading into the final stanza of the game. In comes PJ Minaya and Darin Kamealoha with some timely steals and clutch baskets, helping to post a team 24 points 4th quarter to secure an 88-83 win.

Thank you to Mr White and the student body that put on the homecoming festivities before the game with fun, food, and fellowship for all to enjoy.
