Seniors Talk with Head of School

Seniors Talk With Head of School

This past weekend, Hanalani Schools congratulated the class of 2009 at the annual graduation commencement exercises. Before the school sent the seniors off into the world, they spent some time with head of schools Mr. Mark Sugimoto talking about their time at Hanalani, and how, looking forward, the school could improve. Hanalani began a vision 9 years ago to create a school environment in which students had an influence in shaping it. Thus far, several improvements have been made since then because of student input. The input given during last Thursdays time will be no different. Mr. Sugimoto challenged the students to approach the review and suggestion time from the perspective of adults, holding a balance and realistic view. Students worked in small groups to come up with ideas and input, then later merged into one big group to present ideas to the Superintendent. The meeting with Mr. Sugimoto also included lunch and the annual planting of a tree by the Senior class.
