Athletics Department Philosophy

Athletics is an effective avenue to develop attributes and skills of leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork, physical strength, work ethic, and mental discipline.

The athletics department at Hanalani Schools strives to provide the student body membership the opportunity, through inter-scholastic competition, to develop proper "Christ-like" attributes of testimony, leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork; to train to increase physical strength, proper work ethic and mental discipline; and finally to imbue godly characteristics and teachings that are presented during a practice or game situation.

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man which striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown: but we an incorruptible.”1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (KJV)

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is henceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of this world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV)
