2019-20 Great Start Guide: Upper School (7-12)

  • Upper School Orientation

    New Student Orientation (including all incoming 7th graders) will be held Monday, August 12, from 10:00am - 1:00pm in the SAC (Gymnasium). Students will be given a quick overview of the school, meet our teachers and student leaders, be shown their schedule, and tour the campus. Lunch will also be provided.
  • First Day of School

    The first day of school---Tuesday, August 13---will be a regular, full day. Students are required to wear the Hanalani Schools uniform on this day. Homeroom listings will be posted on the Founder's Hall and Weinberg buildings the Friday before school starts.
  • Lunch

    School lunch will be available on the first day of school. Lunches may be purchased with lunch coupons or cash. Lunch coupon books of 20 are available for purchase in the Campus Store. Coupons allow the purchase of a complete meal, including: entree, fruit, vegetable, and a drink. Additional items (separate from the daily hot lunch) such as cheeseburgers, musubi, and bentos will also be available for purchase with cash only.
  • Health Requirements

    All students must have submitted an up-to-date health card (form ENR-09). Students entering school in Hawaii for the first time must submit: 1) Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, and 2) a completed Student Health Record (ENR-09) form, with immunizations and a physical examination dated within one year before the first day of school. Students may not begin school unless these forms have been submitted.
  • Picture Day

    Wednesday, August 28 will be Picture Day for all Upper School students. All students will be required to take a picture for yearbook and school ID purposes, whether or not a package is purchased.
  • Transportation

    Bus service will be available on the first day of school. If you need to sign up, please download the Transportation Selection Form (ENR-14) and turn it in to the Upper School Office. If your child is riding the bus in the afternoon only, he/she will meet with the bus driver at the lanai (right outside the Campus Store) right after school to know where to go the rest of the year.
  • Digital Requirements

    Students in grades 7-12 will need to bring their own device (BYOD) to school. This would include a laptop, tablet, or slate. We have included recommended specs for their technology use.

    Minimum requirements for student laptops:
    • Processor Speed: 2.0 GHz dual core or higher
    • System Memory: 2 GB or higher
    • Hard Drive: 120 GB or higher
    • Wireless 802.11G
    • Battery Life: Up to 5 hours
    • Operating System: Windows 7 or higher, Mac OS10.6 or higher
    • Antivirus Software

    • Processor Speed: dual core or higher
    • System Memory: 16 GB or higher
    • Hard Drive: 120 GB or higher
    • Wireless 802.11G
    • Battery Life: Up to 5 hours
    • Operating System: iOS 6.0 or higher, Android 4.0 or higher
    • Physical Keyboard

    Due to their smaller screen size, cell phones, and other similar smart devices are not encouraged for your child’s educational activities.
