2022-23 Great Start Guide: Upper School (7-12)

  • New School Year Packets

    You will receive a new school year packet in the mail. This will include a letter from the Upper School Principal and the following hard copy. We ask that you review, sign and return to the Upper School office or email a pdf file to upperschool@hanalani.org by July 13, 2022:
  • Upper School Orientation

    New Student Orientation (including all incoming 7th graders) will be held Monday, August 8, from 10 am - 1 pm at the SAC. Students will be given a quick overview of the school, meet our teachers and student leaders, be shown their schedule, and tour the campus. Lunch will also be provided.
  • First Day of School

    The first day of school, Tuesday, August 9, will be a regular, full day. Students are required to wear the Hanalani Schools uniform on this day. Homeroom listings will be posted on the Founder's Hall and Weinberg buildings the Friday before school starts.
  • Parent Orientation

    Parent Orientation - Monday, August 15, 7 pm at the SAC.
  • Lunch

    Breakfast, lunch and other food items are available for purchase at The Royal Café. A complete lunch meal includes an entrée, fruit, vegetable, and milk. Complete lunch or milk only can be purchased. School lunch will be available starting on the first day of school. 

    For the 2022-23 school year, we have converted to a contactless payment system. Lunches can be pre-ordered online. More details and account set up will be sent to parents via email.

    If you have lunch coupons from the 2020-21 School Year, please keep the coupons and turn them in to the Business Office for credit.
  • Health Requirements

    If you received a notification from our secretaries about missing health information or vaccination records, please turn in an updated Student Health Record (ENR-09B) 2021-22 Student Health Record, Grades 4-12 and pertinent documents when you have orientation or by first day of school at the latest.

  • Picture Day

    Tuesday, August 23, will be Picture Day for all Upper School students. Aloha attire is encouraged. All students, regardless of photo package purchase, will be required to take a picture for an ID badge and the yearbook. Note: The student ID badge will be used for contactless payment and to check out library books.
  • Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

    Students in grades 7-12 will need to bring their own device (BYOD) to school. This would include a laptop, tablet, or slate. We have included recommended specs for their technology use.

    Minimum requirements for student laptops:
    • Processor Speed: 2.0 GHz dual core or higher
    • System Memory: 2 GB or higher
    • Hard Drive: 120 GB or higher
    • Wireless 802.11G
    • Battery Life: Up to 5 hours
    • Operating System: Windows 7 or higher, Mac OS10.6 or higher
    • Antivirus Software

    • System Memory: 16 GB or higher
    • Hard Drive: 120 GB or higher
    • Wireless 802.11G
    • Battery Life: Up to 5 hours
    • Operating System: iOS 6.0 or higher, Android 4.0 or higher
    • Physical Keyboard

    Due to their smaller screen size, cell phones, and other similar smart devices are not encouraged for your child’s educational activities.

    Students in Grades 7-12 will need to sign the BYOD policy form. We will let everyone know when it is ready so you can read and complete the agreement form. Mahalo for your patience.
