Federal Government Shutdown

As the U.S. Federal Government shutdown continues, we are mindful that some of our families are impacted. We are committed to supporting our students and `ohana. Thankfully, Hanalani does not receive federal funding, so we do not anticipate any direct impact on our ability to continue school operations.

We are grateful for the service of our federally employed parents to our country. We pray with urgency that our government will resolve the shutdown and we pray for our families that are impacted. Below is school information and other resources that may be useful.

Tuition Deferral: If the shutdown has caused your family financial hardship that affects your ability to meet tuition obligations, please reach out confidentially to our Business Officer, Mrs. Corrine Wachi, at (808) 625-0737 ext. 261 or cwachi@hanalani.org.

Tuition Assistance: Families applying for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for School Year 26/27 may have difficulty obtaining IRS tax transcripts as required by Clarity for the application process. Hanalani will adjust the financial aid timeline for applications as needed. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Michelle Kaneshiro at mkaneshiro@hanalani.org.

`Ohana Care Packages
  • Our Lower School Student Leadership Team is assembling packages with a variety of donated canned goods and food items for those impacted by the shutdown.
  • Packages will be available for pick-up at the Development Office during regular business hours beginning on Wednesday, November 12. No sign-up is needed.

Kokua `Ohana Dinner:
Parents and staff have expressed a desire to assist families who are impacted by the federal shutdown. An idea that has percolated to the top is to provide a complimentary meal for our impacted families.
  • Our staff will prepare a chili dinner — Aunty Dayna’s chili, rice, and corn.
  • To help us order and prepare, please complete this confidential form by noon on Thursday, November 6.
  • Your meal will be available for pickup from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m., on Monday, November 10, at the Royal Café.

Kokua `Ohana Fund: This fund was established in response to the government shutdown to help families affected by the crisis. We are deeply grateful for our community's generosity and willingness to come together during challenging times to care for one another. If you would like to support families through initiatives such as our Kokua `Ohana Family Meals, you can contribute through the form below. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Justine Lee at jlee@hanalani.org
