Ka Imi Loa Summer Program students learned what life was like growing up on Niihau by guest speaker Uncle Lokahi (K5 student, Noah W.’s uncle).

Our students were amazed to learn there was no electricity back then which meant no TV, internet, or modern communication tools! Instead, they wrote letters to correspond with the world. They hunted, fished, and raised cattle, turkey, and sheep. Hawaiian was their first language and every Sunday, everyone went to church. They thrived on the abundance that the Lord had provided. That sounds like a great childhood!
